When their first pop-up shops sprouted up, FoodTogether needed a fresh EFTPOS solution. Enter Smartpay, the partner that makes payments a piece of cake (healthy cake, we promise)!
FoodTogether is a non-profit social enterprise dedicated to connecting communities through healthy, fresh produce.
Their mission? To bring communities together through accessible, affordable fresh food, creating jobs and empowering local collectives to improve food security.
We talked to Sophie Bond from FoodTogether to learn more about how Smartpay has helped them boost their efficiency.
Smartpay’s EFTPOS solutions are the apple of FoodTogether’s eye for seamless transactions.
“This year we launched FoodTogether Pop-Ups, which differs from the traditional Food Co-Operative model,” Sophie shared.
With the shift from online orders to in-person sales, FoodTogether needed compact, rechargeable and user-friendly EFTPOS terminals. Smartpay's terminals made payments simple for its 18 pop-up locations across New Zealand. Kale yeah!
A tasty promotion made Smartpay the easy choice. She said, “We were really excited about the first-year free rental offer – it meant a whole year of saving money right from the start, which is a big deal for any business, especially ours.”

“We love that the Smartpay machines have a SIM card and can work anywhere! That’s a really important feature for an operation like ours,” she said. This feature is vital for Sophie, as many of their Pop-Ups operate outdoors on trestle tables without access to power outlets.
She added, “Smartpay is very reliable. A few times, we have found ourselves needing a new EFTPOS machine for a new site at short notice, and Smartpay comes through every time. We find the whole process very reliable, convenient and efficient.”
